Research & Development

I designed and built the WordPress site for SF Home Care, a home care agency in San Francisco, and wrote the site copy. It runs on WordPress’s Twenty Twenty-One theme, customized through the Customizer rather than a bespoke theme, with Contact Form 7 for consultation requests, MetaSlider for the homepage slider, and Max Mega Menu for navigation. Its color palette, a bright pink accent against a muted slate blue, comes from that Customizer CSS. I built out service pages for conditions like Alzheimer’s and dementia, Parkinson’s, and fall risk, along with the tiered care-plan pages, blog, about, careers, and contact sections. I’ve maintained the site since launch, with plugin, PHP, and WordPress core updates every few months.

I designed the SF Home Care logo and brand identity in 2023, working through several rounds of drafts that September and October before landing on a final mark. Alongside the primary logotype, I produced an alternate version and a simplified icon mark. The site still uses that icon mark today as its browser favicon and touch icon.

SF Home Care is a boutique home care agency in San Francisco that keeps its client base intentionally small rather than scaling up. Its founder came from a hospitality background before moving into caregiving, and the About page runs that story in first person next to a personal photo rather than stock imagery. That page’s own headline, “We make home care personal,” set the tone I wrote the rest of the site copy to match. The site also gives the agency’s LGBTQ+ Inclusive Care commitment and its donation-funded Community Care Fund their own sections, built alongside the core service and care-plan pages.
