Privacy Policy

This is the portfolio site of Kailash Black, a designer. This page covers what information the site collects, what happens to it, and what your choices are. The short version: apart from the basic logs every website keeps, the only personal information I get is what you choose to send me through the contact form.
What the site collects
The contact form. If you send me a message, the form asks for your name, your email address, an optional subject and your message. They’re sent to me by email so I can reply, and the email also notes the IP address the message came from, which helps me spot spam. The form doesn’t save any of this on this website.
Server logs. Like nearly every website, this one runs on a web host whose servers automatically log basic details of each request: your IP address, your browser type, the page you asked for and the time. A security plugin on this site also records the IP addresses of failed login attempts. I use these only to keep the site secure and running, not to identify visitors.
Cookies and tracking
This site doesn’t set cookies for visitors, and it has no analytics, ad networks, tracking pixels or social media embeds, which is why there’s no cookie banner. Its fonts and images are served from this site, not from other companies’ servers.
The one thing it stores in your browser is a small timestamp in session storage, which lets the loading animation carry over from one page to the next. It holds nothing about you, never leaves your browser, and disappears when you close the tab. WordPress also sets a login cookie for me when I sign in to edit the site, but visitors never log in.
How your information is used
I use what you send me to reply to you and to keep a record of our conversation. I don’t sell it or rent it, I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t share it with anyone except the services that make this site and my email work, or if the law requires it.
How long it’s kept
Messages stay in my email for as long as they’re useful for our conversation or my business records. Server logs are kept by my web host on its own schedule, and failed-login records stay on this site until they’re cleared. If you’d like your message deleted, just ask.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete any personal information I have about you by sending me a message through the contact form. Depending on where you live, laws like the GDPR or the CCPA may give you further rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to other websites, such as client sites. They have their own privacy practices, and this policy doesn’t cover them.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal information.
Security
The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), but no website or email is completely secure, so please don’t send anything highly sensitive through the form.
Changes to this policy
If any of this changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top.
